Garmin Forerunner 620 GPS Running Watch

The new sports watches from Garmin – Forerunner Forerunner and 620 220- feature a modern design, colorful and light, premium features and advanced connectivity, being yet very simple to use, making them an excellent gadget for anyone who is a fan of the world of running.

The Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation solutions *, launched its two new GPS watches: Forerunner Forerunner and 620 220. The two new fitness equipment of the brand are the finest watches, light and with the most advanced offerings for fans of the race, and are the best thing an athlete can have right after a personal trainer, is to practice outdoor as indoor. The high connectivity as Bluetooth technology® Smart with high ability to upload, the Garmin Connect™, the app Garmin Connect Mobile and real-time location LiveTrack, along with plans to support training, physical condition and dynamic metrics, allow runners get a smarter and complete training, increasing their capacities to achieve goals, surpassing every race.

The Forerunner 620 includes a tactile screen Chroma color high resolution ™ puts the essential features of a touch, for a more immediate understanding of data presented, even under racing gloves. The Forerunner 220 has a high-resolution colour screen and, even if it’s not tactile, has buttons extremely easy to use. Both models have rechargeable batteries with a capacity for six weeks in clock mode and up to 10 hours in training mode. The Forerunner 620 and 220 are waterproof to 50 meters deep, enduring without problems to rain or falls in puddles.

Motivation is important because it is through it that the athletes can force to overcome new goals. Have a GPS sports watch with premium features that helps improve every step, measuring in detail to your performance, it’s like having a coach on your side in each race. Also used for indoor practice, for example in the race in the crosswalk, the distance travelled is measured through the built-in accelerometer in Forerunner. To obtain this information, users do not need a pedometer.

For athletes seeking a more complete analysis, the Forerunner 620 offers through the Estimated VO2 Max functionality (available when used with the heart rate monitor HRM-Run) that is like a fairly accurate indicator of the athleticism of the Hall. And in what way this feature is innovative? In the old days, the only way to get reliable data was through a lab test with cost to the athlete. Garmin offers with the Forerunner 620. Through this feature, the user has access to the maximum volume of oxygen (in milliliters) that can consume per minute, per kilogram of body weight during your maximum performance. Simply put, the VO2 Max is an indication of the athleticism of the Hall and should increase as the level of physical condition improves. The typical VO2 Max values are between 20 and 80 (ml/kg/min) and some elite athletes registered above 80. For the user to know how you behave, the Forerunner 620 screen indicates, through this feature, the values and compares them with the average of individuals of the same sex and age. Through this innovative functionality, Garmin watch can predict the race time for different distances. This precious information acts as a motivational goal for the athlete to know what the next target to meet, knowing how much is evolving.

The functionality of Recovery Wizard is also activated when using the Forerunner 620 in conjunction with the heart rate sensor HRM-Run. This measure of physical condition executes the athlete recovery planning between physical exertion, i.e. has a personal trainer while studying the physiology of the user on the basis of the data obtained through the heart rate monitor to then show what recovery time and when you can begin the next physical effort. The data are easily readable and interpretable by the high-resolution screen Chroma: the Green serves clearly to indicate that a new race can start, but if the red on the screen, with an indication of the recovery of 3 days-for example-then it is a sign that the athlete must rest or slow down the pace.

The HRM sensor-Run (only available in Forerunner 620) also has an accelerometer to calculate various racing Dynamics:

  • Cadence – this functionality comes to the count of the total number of steps (right and left foot combined) that gives the Hall per minute. One more innovation, being that previous devices used a pedometer to determine the amount of steps. A usual value of Cadence is between 150 and 200 steps per minute, with 180 steps the ideal number. When the HRM-Run is not being used, the rate is an estimate based on the accelerometer.
  • Vertical Oscillation – is measured in cm from the center of gravity of the athlete, your torso. The typical wobble is among the 6 and 13 cm, with the elite runners oscillating lower levels.
  • Contact with the ground – determines how long, during a race, the foot is on the ground instead of in the air, the time of contact with the ground is measured in milliseconds. Most of the time of contact with the ground detected during a race are between 160 and 300 milliseconds. The elite runners go by, usually, less than 190 milliseconds in contact with the ground with every step.

Thanks to Bluetooth wireless technology®Smart with high ability to upload the new Forerunner and 220 620 share the athletes ‘ race data on online community of Garmin, Garmin Connect ™, without the need for connection to a computer. The data can also be transferred via the free application Garmin Connect Mobile if you have a smartphone with an operating system compatible and through this same application users can publish on social networks all the information on WINS and goals achieved. To add additional features, such as real-time location- LiveTrack -, which allows friends, family or fans can follow in real time the State of the athlete. To this end, the runners should have your mobile phone paired with your watch or 620 220 throughout the physical path in order to use this feature. Both the Forerunner are compatible with the plans of training available in Garmin Connect. Athletes can still establish connection between your Forerunner 620 and other Wi-Fi available, both at home and at work, while you do a range for example, to automatically synchronize data with Garmin Connect.

Mindful of the current trend in the world of running – training run/walk-, the Garmin features in its Forerunner and 220 620 vibration alerts for athletes know when they’re out of the pre defined rate (the vibration alert is a further advantage compared to other devices that only offer sound alerts). This vibrating alert enables the use of other features, available in both Forerunner, such as Auto Lap (when activated this feature automatically starts a new lap, displaying the time and distance) and the Auto Pause (the Forerunner can stop automatically when the athlete to and start again when it returns to your race, so that you do not have to restart the timer manually). Can also get alerts for partial kilometers and round or customize alerts for many other information.
